April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and One Place's Standing Together Against Rape (STAR) program is celebrating 25 years of helping sexual assault/rape victims of Central Alabama.
One Place Executive Director Marjorie Baker said the month's goal is to bring awareness and prevention.
"As One Place prepares for the annual recognition of SAAM with a series of important awareness events, our Standing Together Against Rape (STAR) Program is celebrating 25 years of doing this critical work," Baker said. "One Place’s goal is to remind the community of the need for awareness throughout the year and to be ever present in solidarity against sexual violence."
Every Tuesday in April, One Place and the Alabama Coalition Against Rape (ACAR) will host Teal Talk, a virtual series discussing various sexual assault issues. Tune in April 6, 13, 20, and 27 at 1 PM via the STAR or ACAR Facebook pages. Visit One Place’s website (www.oneplacfjc.org), Facebook, and Instagram pages to learn more about our sexual assault awareness activities. #WeBelieve #ShineTheLightOnSexualAssault #LearnEducateAdvocateDonate (LEAD).
